Scoil Bhríde, Straffan N.S. Digital Learning Framework
We live in a world that is characterised by abundant information, advanced technology, a rapidly changing society, greater convenience in daily lives and keener international competition.
Digital technologies are an everyday part of our student lives and offer unique opportunities to make learning, more student-centred, collaborative and fun in classrooms across Ireland. We in Scoil Bhríde are proud to be actively engaging with digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning and assessment within our school.
In October 2015, the Department published The Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020 Enhancing Teaching Learning and Assessment, the next stage of the ICT in Schools programme. The Digital Strategy for Schools provides a rationale and a Government action plan for integrating ICT into teaching, learning and assessment practices in schools over five years.
A new Digital Learning Framework for Schools was developed by the Department of Education and Skills, for all primary and post primary schools. It was rolled out to all schools in the 2018/2019 school year.
The Digital Learning Framework represents one of the key supports envisaged under the Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020. In implementing the Digital Learning Framework, schools and teachers are given a structure which allows them to identify where they are on the journey towards embedding digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment, and enable them to progress in that journey. This framework is accompanied by Digital Learning Planning Guidelines which have assisted us in Scoil Bhríde, to develop a whole school Digital Learning Plan.
Ourdigital learning plan is a fluid, working document, offering structure and a focus as we collectively work towards a shared goal in Scoil Bhríde, Straffan N.S. Our Digital Learning Plan has been compiled of input from pupils, parents and staff, with the aim of developing Digital Technologies to improve teaching, learning and assessment for all at Scoil Bhríde, Straffan N.S.
