We partake every year in the Intel Mini Scientist Competition. This year our school winning project exhibited by some of our sixth class girls in TUD Blanchardstown was “what is the better way to learn a language: human communication or technology?” Despite not being placed this year, it won huge interest from the Third Level Researchers in the field of AI (Artificial Intelligence).
Last year we were thrilled to win the National Intel Mini Scientist 2019 Competition in NUI, Maynooth in the category: “Best Communication Award” for our project “What affects our immunity?”
Science Week and Maths Week
In all our classes we ensure that during specific weeks during the year, we take part in a wide range of STEM activities for our Discover Primary Science and Maths Award. During the year, we organise exciting lessons, workshops and challenges for the children to take part in. During Science and Maths week there are lots of engineering challenges happening in classrooms including marshmallow 3D shapes, paper bridge construction, towers made from cups and lollipop sticks, balloon rockets, paddles boats, paper helicopters, and even an egg parachute! The children have been introduced to coding this year and have had an opportunity to work with Beebots, Scratch and Lego Coding.
Manga High:
This year the children were actively involved in the Manga High National Challenge. We are delighted to announce that the school received 14 Gold Medals for children who were successful this year. Maith thú gach duine. Here are some links for inspiration:
