Primary Schoolbooks Scheme

Primary Schoolbooks Scheme: Information for Our Parents and Guardians

The Primary Schoolbooks Scheme was introduced in 2023 with the goal of removing the cost from families for schoolbooks, workbooks, and copybooks. This initiative ensures that all pupils in recognised primary and special schools have access to the necessary resources for their education without financial burden on their parents or guardians.

What is covered under the Scheme?

Under this scheme, our school will provide the following to all pupils:

  • Schoolbooks
  • Workbooks
  • Copybooks

While the funding covers these essential items, it does not extend to the purchase of personal digital devices. However, the school may use available funding for digital media support that relates directly to teaching and learning within the curriculum.

In cases where there is surplus funding, the school may choose to purchase additional classroom resources. These are specifically limited to items that, prior to the scheme, would have been paid for or provided by parents/guardians.

How the Scheme Works
  • Ownership: All schoolbooks provided under this scheme remain the property of the school and are provided on a loan basis.
  • Home Use: Although the books belong to the school, pupils are allowed to bring them home to complete homework and to ensure parents can stay connected with their child’s learning progress.
  • School Autonomy: Our school continues to have the autonomy to choose schoolbooks and related classroom resources that best meet the curricular requirements of our students.
Staying Informed

It is important for parents to stay informed about how the scheme is being implemented. Our school will communicate directly with you regarding the specific resources being provided. This will help you plan for any additional expenditure that may be required for items not covered under the scheme.
